Concept

As a musician improvising live, your ideas are flowing rapidly, you cannot think while you are improvising, so the music you're producing has, in my opinion, always some kind of im-perfectness.

There also is the interaction with the other musicians that may be fun for all participants, but (sometimes, at least) not for the audience.

To overcome these problems I did these recordings. The accompanying band here consists of an anonymous MIDI data stream delivering the usual double bass/drums background, so I could concentrate on "standalone" piano improvisation.

All piano recordings in this collection were IMPROVISED IN ONE TAKE, they were NOT compiled out of several recordings. But in the sequencer-based afterproduction, I deleted all un-intended "bad notes" I produced. By doing so I wanted to "better myself", I wanted to create an improvisation that I wouldn't be able to do live.

I know, this concept may sound weird (maybe disgusting?) to jazz purists, but, as always, I am not interested in just following the paths of tradition, but in CREATING BEAUTIFUL THINGS.
